Apologise before hand for any spelling errors, but I am dyslexic and struggle with spell, and there is no spell checker on this site..
After much convincing I have started a D.I.Y bride blog, after all the lovely comments on a wedding forum about my makes and ideas for my forthcoming wedding.
So a little history about me and my life so far...
I am Joint Head of Art in a Secondary School, I've always been told how creative I am, constantly coming up with ways to solve problems or make things, and learn through mistakes and achievements. But before becoming a Teacher I had a mountain to climb. I'm an ex army child, I never stayed in a place very long before being dragged to another corner of the world, yes everyone says it must of been amazing living in all those countries, yes it was but now when people ask me where I’m from I can't really say, I have no identity so simply answer "I’m worldly" to some very confused looks. I've always been good at Art, from the age of 3 where I was already able to draw Fireman Sam, to the shock of the nurses, from that moment on my parents have always helped to support and push me further with my artistic abilities.
Well along with the travel which did influence my life I put up with physical and mental bullying from not just fellow pupils but even teachers, which I feel helped influence my decision to be an Art Teacher after I found sanctuary in the Art rooms with Mrs Hansel, Mr Warbols, Mr Erhon and Mr Oldman, and with no support from anyone else in the school and constantly being told I’m a failure by some teachers, I got my GCSE's, A Levels then left the school and got to go off to University to continue my road of development. I really came out of my shell and started to believe in my abilities and skills.
So I left Uni, got my first job in Sept 2008 and by Sept 2011 I’m Joint Head of Art, I’ve achieved what I’ve always wanted to achieve, so I can slap all those bullies in the face and say Thank You, your bullying made me stronger and achieve everything I wanted...
Now with starting a new job in a new town miles away from home, was very lonely and I had no nearby friends, so someone suggested I join a couple of clubs and a dating website, after about 50 weird or unsuccessful dates I was going to quit, until I got a very simple message saying "Hi". Thought he was handsome, with some potential for improvements, lol. Had an amazing time and continued to date even through the highs and lows, and 5 months later we moved in with each other and 9 months after that he proposed (at midnight, on a little brick bridge over a duck pond, after a Seth Lakeman concert, he did this long speech which I thought he was breaking up with me!, which not minutes before I was making spooky, alien and psycho sounds to freak him out!)
Well now we're (well I’m) planning our wedding, with the hope of making it unique with my own DIY touches, I've been planning for a year and a half now, and just coming up to a year to go, and still have a list as long as my arm of things to make, things to do, things to buy etc as most of you reading this known.
So this blog is simply been set up to show you what I’m making or made, to read about my struggles/ problems as well as being able to help with any problems you may have with your DIY bits and bobs.
I am considering starting a wedding business, but not until after my wedding, as I’m scarily busy as you will see, I will let you know in the future my plans, but please enjoy reading, and look forward to my future blogs, I will certainly enjoy writing them.
